Logistics Coordinator Resume Examples & Writing Guide

This is a mid-level resume for a coordinator at a manufacturer shipping from two US plants. The name and companies are made up. Notice that every job states loads per week, the modes, the systems and an on-time or cost number. That is what a logistics manager scans for.

Logistics managers hire coordinators to take work off their desk: the 6 a.m. call about a missed pickup, the carrier invoice that does not match the quote, the customer asking where their pallets are. The resume has to show you have already done that, at what volume, and in which systems.

• Volume and mode. Loads, shipments or appointments per day or week, and whether they were truckload, LTL, parcel, ocean, air or intermodal. "Coordinated shipments" could mean 5 a week or 500. Say which.
• Systems. The TMS, WMS or ERP you used every day (MercuryGate, Oracle OTM, SAP TM or SD, Blue Yonder, Manhattan, NetSuite), carrier portals and EDI. Excel skill level matters; most reporting still happens there.
• A service and a cost number. On-time pickup or delivery percentage, detention or demurrage charges you controlled, freight spend or spot-market use you reduced, claims recovery rate. One of each is enough.
• Evidence you chase problems. Late-load tracing, carrier no-shows, customs holds, damaged freight. Managers want a coordinator who calls the carrier before the customer calls them.

“Tell me how many loads a week, which TMS, and your on-time number. If you can also tell me one carrier problem you fixed on your own, I will call you. Most coordinator resumes I see give me none of the four.”

Write a summary once you have a year or more in logistics or dispatch. Write an objective when you are moving in from the warehouse floor, customer service or the military and need to connect the dots. In both cases the first line gives the volume, the modes and the systems.

People search for a "logistics coordinator job description for resume" and paste the posting back in. Managers see through that in one line. Take each duty and attach the volume, the system and the result. Here are the most common duties rewritten.

Keep the skills section to 10 to 14 items and make most of them nouns a manager can picture: a mode, a document, a system, a rule. Applicant tracking systems match on these exact words.

• Freight and modes: truckload (FTL), less-than-truckload (LTL), parcel, intermodal and rail, ocean FCL/LCL, air freight, drayage, final mile, expedited and hot-shot freight.
• Documents and rules: bill of lading (BOL), packing list, commercial invoice, hazmat shipping papers (49 CFR), Incoterms 2020, ISF (10+2) and customs entries with a broker, ELD and hours-of-service basics for fleet roles.
• Systems: MercuryGate, Oracle OTM, SAP TM/SD/MM, Blue Yonder, Manhattan or HighJump WMS, NetSuite, CargoWise (international), Descartes and Samsara (fleet), UPS WorldShip and FedEx Ship Manager, EDI 204/214/210, carrier and load-board portals (DAT, Truckstop).
• Analysis: Excel pivot tables and lookups, freight cost per pound or per mile, carrier scorecards, on-time pickup and delivery reporting, Power BI or Tableau dashboards if you built them.
• Working skills managers actually screen for: tracing and escalation with carriers, appointment and dock scheduling, claims follow-through, clear written status updates, staying calm on the 6 a.m. missed-pickup call, and flexibility for month-end and peak-season hours.

Leave off "teamwork" and "multitasking". Replace them with the thing you multitasked: "tracked 40 open loads while covering the dock schedule for a colleague on leave".

No license is required to be a logistics coordinator in the US. Most postings ask for a high school diploma plus 1 to 3 years in shipping, dispatch or customer service; an associate or bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain or business helps you move to analyst or manager later. A few certifications carry weight.

• Worth listing: APICS/ASCM CLTD (Certified in Logistics, Transportation and Distribution) or CSCP (Certified Supply Chain Professional); hazmat transportation training under DOT 49 CFR (required if you sign hazmat shipping papers, renewed every 3 years); IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations training for air freight; a Six Sigma Yellow or Green Belt if you did a real project.
• Useful in specific settings: OSHA 10 or 30, forklift (powered industrial truck) certification if you work near the dock, a Class A CDL for fleet coordinators, Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) from the NCBFAA for import-heavy roles.
• List each with the issuing body and year, and mark anything in progress: "CLTD, ASCM, exam scheduled Nov 2026". Employer-issued training (forklift, hazmat) counts; say who issued it.
• Education goes below experience once you have 2+ years. Include relevant coursework only for new graduates (transportation management, procurement, inventory control).

Most coordinators are promoted from the dock, the dispatch desk or a customer service seat, not hired from school. If that is your path, your resume already has logistics on it; you just have to translate it. If you are a new graduate, your internship, class projects and part-time work carry the page.

1. 1Lead with an objective that names the systems and volumes you already touched (WorldShip, a WMS, 300 shipments a shift) and the coordinator role you want.
2. 2Rewrite warehouse, shipping clerk, dispatcher or customer service bullets around logistics tasks: labels and BOLs prepared, carriers you called, appointment logs you kept, discrepancies you found.
3. 3Add a Systems and Tools line even if the list is short. Excel with pivot tables counts. A free MercuryGate or SAP demo course does not, unless you say it was a course.
4. 4Put a relevant degree or certificate above experience if it is recent: associate in logistics, a supply chain certificate, ASCM's Principles of Logistics course, hazmat or forklift training.
5. 5One page. Managers hiring entry-level coordinators read for reliability: no gaps without a note, stable dates, a phone number you answer.

• One page for anyone under about 8 years. Two pages only if you have run international, fleet and warehouse coordination at several employers.
• Order: header, summary, experience (with systems named inside the bullets), skills, certifications, education.
• Plain format: one column, standard fonts, no photo (standard in the US), no tables for the skills list. Manufacturers and 3PLs often use Workday, ADP, iCIMS or Paycom to parse resumes, and tables scramble.
• Mirror the posting's words: "freight", "carrier management", "TMS", the mode names, "on-time delivery", "BOL", "appointment scheduling", "3PL", "inventory accuracy", and the exact system names. If the ad says "transportation coordinator" and you say "logistics coordinator", use both once.
• Outside the US the same document is a CV and the title is often "logistics administrator" or "transport coordinator" (UK). Content rules are identical; drop the state-specific details.
• Save as PDF unless the portal asks for Word: Priya-Ramaswamy-Logistics-Coordinator.pdf.
