Treasury Analyst Resume Examples & Writing Guide

A treasury analyst resume gets an interview when the first third of the page shows four things: the cash you moved and forecast (daily position, 13-week forecast, entity count), the bank and treasury systems you actually used, your CTP status, and one measurable result such as lower bank fees or a more accurate forecast.

Treasury analyst resume example (mid-level, CTP)

This sample is for a treasury analyst with six years in corporate treasury at a mid-size company with overseas subsidiaries. The person and the employers are invented. If you are an entry-level analyst or a treasury specialist on the operations side, keep the shape and scale the numbers down; there are summaries for both further down.

Notice that every bullet has a size: accounts, entities, dollars a day, weeks of forecast, basis points or fees. Treasury hiring managers read scale first, because running cash for 6 accounts and running cash for 62 across five currencies are different jobs.

What a treasury manager looks for in the first 20 seconds

Treasury teams are small. A group of four people can move billions, so the manager screens for judgment and control habits, not for volume of work. Four things decide whether they read on.

  • Scale and complexity. Number of bank accounts, banks, legal entities and currencies. One US entity with three accounts is a very different job from 14 entities in 6 countries, and the manager wants to know which one you have done.
  • Which part of treasury you owned. Cash operations (positioning, funding, payments), forecasting, debt and investments, FX and hedging, or bank relationship and account administration. Most analysts do two or three. Say which.
  • Systems. The treasury management system (Kyriba, GTreasury, FIS, Coupa Treasury, Reval, TIS) or, if you had none, the ERP module and the bank portals. Naming the exact bank platforms (CashPro, CitiDirect BE, JPMorgan Access, Wells Fargo CEO) tells them you have really done the work.
  • Control awareness. Dual control on payments, callback procedures on new vendor bank details, positive pay, segregation of duties. One bullet showing you spotted or stopped a fraud attempt is worth more than a paragraph of duties.

Two resumes say "managed daily cash". One tells me 62 accounts, five banks, six currencies and a 10 a.m. deadline. That one gets the call, because now the interview can start at the interesting part.

Treasury analyst resume summary examples

Three or four lines under your name. Title and years first, then the scale you handle, then the systems, then one number that shows a result. Use a summary, not an objective, at every level.

Entry level / new graduate
Finance graduate (B.S., GPA 3.5) with a summer internship in a corporate treasury team, where the daily cash position for 12 accounts was prepared and reconciled and a bank fee file was rebuilt in Excel. Treasury analyst (2 to 4 years)
Treasury analyst with 3 years running daily cash for a $300M services group: 18 accounts, $6M in daily movements, weekly borrowing base and monthly covenant reporting on a $75M revolver. Released 300+ wires and ACH batches a month under dual control. Advanced Excel and CashPro.
Senior treasury analyst
Senior treasury analyst and CTP with 6 years in global cash management for a $900M manufacturer with 14 entities in 6 countries. Owns the daily position, the 13-week forecast and 62 bank accounts. Cut bank fees by $186K a year and forecast variance from 12% to under 4%. Kyriba and SAP.
Treasury specialist (operations focused)
Treasury specialist with 5 years in payment operations: 1,200 wires and ACH files a month, sanctions screening escalations, bank account opening and closing for 45 accounts, and signer maintenance across 4 banks. Rolled out callback verification for vendor bank changes after two attempted payment frauds.
Career changer from accounting or FP&A
Staff accountant with 5 years in cash and bank reconciliations for 20 accounts, intercompany settlements and the monthly cash flow statement, now moving into treasury. Built the company's first 13-week cash forecast during a covenant renegotiation. Studying for the CTP exam in 2026.

Treasury bullets that work: before and after

Treasury duties are easy to describe in a way that says nothing. The fix is always the same: add the count, the currency or dollar size, the system, and what changed. Eight common lines, rewritten.

WeakStrong
Responsible for daily cash management.Publish the global cash position by 10:00 a.m. across 62 accounts at 5 banks in 4 currencies, funding disbursement accounts and sweeping surplus to a money market fund.
Prepared cash flow forecasts.Own the rolling 13-week cash forecast for 14 entities and cut week-4 variance from 12% to 3.8% by rebuilding the collections and capex inputs with plant finance.
Worked with banks.Manage day-to-day contact with 5 banks: 62 account openings, closings and signer changes, 9 KYC refreshes a year, and an annual service review on pricing and error rates.
Handled foreign currency.Report roughly $70M of EUR, MXN and PLN balance sheet exposure monthly and execute matching forwards with two dealer banks, with hedge documentation under ASC 815.
Processed payments.Release 300+ wires and ACH batches a month under dual control, with callback verification on every new or changed vendor bank account.
Assisted with debt compliance.Prepare the weekly borrowing base certificate and the quarterly covenant package for a $75M revolver, with no breach or late submission in 21 months.
Reduced banking costs.Ran a bank fee review across 5 banks using AFP Service Codes, renegotiated 40 priced line items and cut annual analysis fees by $186K.
Improved treasury processes.Automated the daily cash report with Power Query and direct BAI2 imports, cutting the morning routine from 90 minutes to 20 and removing manual re-keying of 18 balances.
Do not put real bank account numbers, live credit facility documents, signer names or unpublished cash balances on a resume. Round the figures, say "a $900M manufacturer" rather than naming a private employer's revenue if it is confidential, and never attach a screenshot of a bank portal.

Treasury analyst resume skills that recruiters search for

Keep the list to 12 to 15 items and split it into what you do and what you do it with. Skip generic entries like "finance" or "analytical"; they take space and prove nothing.

Treasury work you can claim:

  • Daily cash positioning, concentration and target balancing
  • Short-term cash forecasting (13-week) and annual liquidity planning
  • Bank relationship management and account administration (opening, closing, signers, KYC)
  • Payment operations: wires, ACH, dual control, sanctions screening escalation, positive pay
  • FX exposure identification and hedging with forwards; hedge accounting support under ASC 815
  • Debt: revolver draws and repayments, borrowing base, covenant calculation and reporting
  • Investment of surplus cash within an investment policy (money market funds, Treasury bills, commercial paper)
  • Bank fee analysis and account analysis statement review

Systems, spelled the way the vendors spell them:

  • Treasury management systems: Kyriba, GTreasury, FIS Quantum, Coupa Treasury, Reval, TIS
  • ERP: SAP S/4HANA (including the Treasury and Risk Management module), Oracle, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics 365
  • Bank portals: Bank of America CashPro, CitiDirect BE, JPMorgan Access, Wells Fargo CEO, PNC Pinacle
  • File and message formats: SWIFT MT940 and MT942, BAI2, ISO 20022 camt.053 and pain.001
  • Excel to a real standard: Power Query, XLOOKUP or INDEX-MATCH, pivot tables, scenario tables. Many treasury interviews include an Excel exercise.

The soft skills that matter here are narrow and specific: hitting a hard daily cutoff, saying no to a payment that has not been verified, and explaining a cash variance to a CFO in two sentences. Show them in bullets rather than listing them as adjectives.

CTP, education and how to list them

There is no license to work in treasury. The credential that carries weight in the US is the CTP, and hiring managers know exactly what it takes, so be accurate about your stage.

  • Certified Treasury Professional (CTP), awarded by the Association for Financial Professionals. It requires a passing exam score plus qualifying work experience, and it has to be recertified with continuing education. Many treasury analyst postings list it as preferred rather than required.
  • Certified Corporate FP&A Professional, also from AFP. Useful if your role leans toward forecasting and planning rather than cash operations.
  • CFA charter (CFA Institute) or CPA. Both appear in treasury teams, the CFA more often on the investment and capital markets side, the CPA where treasury and technical accounting overlap.
  • In the UK the equivalent qualifications come from the Association of Corporate Treasurers, and the document is called a CV rather than a resume. Everything else on this page still applies.
  • Degree: a bachelor's in finance, accounting or economics is the usual entry point. List the degree, school and year. Add GPA only if it is 3.3 or higher and you graduated within the last three years.
CTP holder
Header: "Dana Okonkwo, CTP". Certifications: "Certified Treasury Professional (CTP), Association for Financial Professionals, since 2023".
Exam scheduled or in study
Certifications: "CTP exam scheduled for the June 2026 window; AFP membership since 2025". Do not put the letters after your name until the credential is awarded.
Not yet eligible
Leave the CTP out of the header and write it under education or a short "In progress" line: "Working toward CTP eligibility (AFP experience requirement met in 2027)".
System certifications
List vendor training honestly: "Kyriba certified user, cash and payments modules, 2022" or "SAP S/4HANA Finance training, 40 hours, 2024".
Never write letters after your name that you have not been awarded. Treasury is a small profession, credential registries are public, and a treasury director who checks and finds nothing will not call you back.

Entry-level treasury analyst resume (no treasury experience yet)

Almost nobody starts in treasury straight from college; teams are small and openings are few. Most people arrive from accounting, AR or AP, FP&A, or a bank's commercial operations desk. Your resume has to translate that work into treasury language.

  • From accounting: bank reconciliations (how many accounts), the cash flow statement, intercompany settlements, and any 13-week forecast you built. These are treasury tasks under another name.
  • From accounts receivable or payable: payment runs, vendor bank detail changes, cash application volume, days sales outstanding. Frame them as cash inflow and outflow control.
  • From a bank: wire operations, ACH origination, treasury management sales support, KYC and account opening. Corporate treasury teams hire from bank operations more often than people expect.
  • Skills that get an entry-level resume read: Excel beyond formulas (Power Query, clean model structure), a working understanding of how a wire and an ACH differ, and knowing what a bank account analysis statement is.
Internship bullet
Prepared the daily cash position for 12 domestic accounts during a 10-week treasury internship, reconciling prior-day statements and flagging 40+ unidentified receipts for the AR team.
Accounting-to-treasury bullet
Reconciled 20 bank accounts monthly and built the company's first rolling 13-week cash forecast in Excel, used by the CFO during a covenant renegotiation with the lead lender.
Bank-to-corporate bullet
Processed and repaired 250 outgoing wires a day in a bank operations center at a 99.7% straight-through rate, and handled OFAC screening escalations under a two-hour service level.

Write a summary, not an objective. "Seeking a challenging treasury role to grow my skills" tells the reader nothing. "Staff accountant with 5 years in cash reconciliation and a self-built 13-week forecast, moving into treasury" tells them everything.

Format, length and the words the ATS is looking for

  • One page under ten years of experience. Two pages for a treasury manager or assistant treasurer with a long list of facilities and system implementations. Never three.
  • Order: header, summary, experience, skills, certifications, education. Put the CTP in the header and in certifications so both the reader and the parser find it.
  • Reverse chronological order, single column, no photo, no date of birth, no charts of your bank balances. Finance recruiters use applicant tracking systems that read text, not graphics.
  • Mirror the posting's exact wording where it is true for you: cash positioning, liquidity, 13-week forecast, cash forecasting, bank relationship management, FX hedging, debt compliance, covenant reporting, wire and ACH, treasury management system, and the TMS by name.
  • If you have supported a system implementation, give it its own bullet with the vendor, your role and the timeline. TMS implementation experience is one of the strongest things a treasury analyst can put on a resume.

One more thing that separates treasury from general finance: name the currencies and countries you have worked with. "EUR, MXN and PLN exposure across entities in Germany, Mexico and Poland" is a keyword line and a credibility line at the same time.

Frequently asked questions

What does a treasury analyst do, and how should the resume show it?

A treasury analyst manages the company's cash: the daily position, funding and sweeps, short-term forecasts, bank accounts and payments, and often FX and debt reporting. Show it with counts and dollars, such as accounts, entities, currencies, daily movement volume and forecast accuracy. Duty lists without numbers read as junior.

How do I write a treasury analyst resume?

Start with a three-line summary giving your years, the scale of cash you handle, your systems and one result. Give each job three to five bullets, each with a count or a dollar figure and, where possible, a change you made. Add a skills block split into treasury tasks and systems, then certifications and education. One page.

What skills should I put on a treasury analyst resume?

Cash positioning and forecasting, bank account administration, payment operations and controls, FX exposure and hedging, debt covenant reporting, and short-term investing. For systems, name the TMS (Kyriba, GTreasury, FIS, Coupa Treasury), the ERP, the bank portals and the file formats such as MT940 and BAI2. Add your true Excel level.

How do I get a treasury analyst job with no experience?

Translate what you already do. Bank reconciliations, cash application, payment runs, borrowing base support and any forecast you built are treasury work under other names. Put those bullets first, add Excel depth and, if you can, an internship or a bank operations role. Treasury teams hire from accounting, AR, AP and bank operations more often than from campus.

Should a treasury analyst resume have an objective or a summary?

A summary, at every level including entry level. An objective states what you want; a summary states what you can do, which is what the treasury manager is deciding about. If you are changing fields, use the last line of the summary to say where you are heading.

Do I need the CTP to be a treasury analyst?

Usually no. Most analyst postings list the Certified Treasury Professional as preferred, not required, and it needs qualifying experience as well as a passing exam. It matters more for senior analyst and treasury manager roles. If you are studying for it, say so with the exam window rather than implying you already hold it.

Treasury analyst or financial analyst: should I use the same resume?

No. A financial analyst resume leads with budgeting, variance analysis and modeling; a treasury resume leads with liquidity, banks, payments and risk. If you apply to both, keep two versions and change the summary, the skills block and the order of the bullets within each job.

Ready to write yours?

The builder suggests a summary from your own experience, then checks it against the job posting.
