Uber Driver Resume Examples & Writing Guide (Rideshare Driver)

This sample is for a driver who has worked full time on Uber and Lyft for about four years after a delivery job, and is now applying for a salaried driving role (corporate shuttle, chauffeur, non-emergency medical transport). The name and employers are made up; the trip counts and ratings are sized to a real full-time driver. If you drive part time, keep the layout and give your real hours.

Rideshare drivers are independent contractors, not employees of the platform. So the honest and most convincing way to list it is as self-employment, with the platform named as where the work came from. Here are the formats that work, whether you are applying for another driving job or for something else entirely.

Most rideshare drivers use the resume to move into a job with steady pay: shuttle or paratransit driver, chauffeur or black-car service, non-emergency medical transport (NEMT), delivery or courier driver, school bus or transit driver after getting a CDL, dispatcher, or a customer service job off the road. Whatever the target, the hiring manager or fleet recruiter checks the same things.

• Your driving record. They will pull your motor vehicle record (MVR). Say up front that it is clean, and how long it has been clean. If it is not, be honest in the interview, not on the resume.
• Proof of volume and reliability. Trips completed and years active tell them you can do long shifts with the public, day after day. A 4.9+ rating from thousands of riders is a reference from thousands of customers.
• Customer handling. Rideshare drivers deal with drunk, late, upset and lost passengers. Show one or two lines about that; it is exactly what shuttle, hotel and medical transport employers worry about.
• Local knowledge and navigation. Airport, hospital, stadium and downtown pickup rules, plus comfort with GPS apps and rerouting in traffic.
• Licenses and permits. A standard driver's license is enough for rideshare in most states, but some cities require a for-hire permit (New York City's TLC license, Chicago's chauffeur license, Las Vegas and Nevada's state permit, for example). If you hold one, list it; it saves the next employer time. A CDL, a passenger (P) endorsement or a DOT medical card moves you into a different pay bracket.

Three lines: years driving and platforms, your headline numbers, your record, and the kind of role you want. Write a summary, not an objective; the numbers do the persuading.

"Drove passengers to their destinations" is the Uber driver job description everyone writes. It says nothing a hiring manager can measure. Rewrite each duty with a number from your driver dashboard or your own records. Seven common lines, before and after.

List 8 to 12 skills a fleet manager or hiring manager will recognize. Concrete beats general: "airport pickup procedures" is a skill, "good driver" is not.

• Defensive driving and accident-free record (give the miles or years)
• Customer service with the general public, including intoxicated, elderly and disabled riders
• Passenger assistance: wheelchairs, walkers, child seats, luggage; PASS certification if you have it
• Navigation and route planning: Google Maps, Waze, knowledge of airport, hospital and venue pickup zones
• Time management across long shifts and surge periods; punctuality for scheduled rides
• Vehicle inspection, maintenance scheduling and cleanliness standards
• Platform apps and ratings management (Uber Driver, Lyft Driver), acceptance and cancellation rate discipline
• Payment handling: in-app payments, cash tips, tolls and receipts
• Self-employment skills: income and mileage tracking, quarterly estimated taxes, insurance (rideshare endorsement)
• Languages spoken, with level
• For the next step: CDL class and endorsements, DOT medical card, for-hire or chauffeur permit, CPR and First Aid

Soft skills such as patience and reliability are real in this job, but show them through numbers (rating, years, cancellation rate) rather than listing the words.

• Driver's license: the standard class for your state (Class C in Georgia, Class D in New York and many others, Class E in Florida). Write the state and class, and "clean record" if it is true. Platforms require at least one year of licensed driving history in the US, and three years for drivers under 25.
• Background and MVR checks: every platform runs them at sign-up and annually. Saying you passed them is a legitimate line.
• City or state for-hire permits: New York City requires a TLC (Taxi and Limousine Commission) driver license for all app drivers; Chicago requires a public chauffeur license; Nevada requires a state business license and permit; some other cities and counties have their own. List any you hold with the issuing body and expiry date. If you hold none because your city does not require one, say nothing.
• Vehicle documents: not for the resume, but bring proof of registration, insurance with a rideshare endorsement and the platform inspection form to a fleet interview.
• Extra qualifications that open better-paid driving jobs: a CDL (Class B with passenger endorsement for shuttles and buses, Class A for trucks), a DOT medical card, defensive driving certificates (National Safety Council, Smith System), CPR and First Aid, PASS or CTAA training for paratransit, and a TSA-known-traveler or airport badge if you have worked airport contracts.
• Outside the US: the UK requires a private hire driver licence from the local council (TfL in London) before driving for any app, and the document is a CV. This page follows US conventions.

• One page. Fleet managers and dispatch supervisors read quickly and often print resumes for the interview.
• Order: header with license class and "clean MVR", summary, experience (rideshare listed as self-employment with numbers), skills, licenses and certifications, education.
• Use plain reverse-chronological layout, months and years. A clean template such as cvplex delivery-driver works; no photo, no graphics.
• Put the numbers in: trips, years, rating, acceptance rate, miles, accident record. Round honestly and be ready to show the dashboard.
• If you are leaving driving altogether, rename the header "Customer Service Professional" or similar and move the customer, payment and small-business bullets to the top of the rideshare entry.
• Keywords from postings to mirror when true: clean driving record, MVR, DOT, passenger assistance, customer service, punctuality, route planning, vehicle inspection, defensive driving, CDL, non-emergency medical transport, chauffeur.
• Save as PDF named Firstname-Lastname-Driver-Resume.pdf. Many fleet employers use simple online application forms that ask you to paste the text, so keep formatting plain.
