Laundry Worker & Laundry Attendant Resume Examples

This sample is for someone with about six years in laundry, first in a hotel and then in a healthcare linen plant. The name and the employers are invented. If you have only worked in one setting, keep the shape and drop the second job; the entry-level version is further down the page.

Laundry is a volume job with real safety rules. The person hiring you is usually the executive housekeeper, the plant supervisor or the environmental services manager, and they check four things.

• Will you show up, on time, on the shift they need? Laundry starts at 5 or 6 a.m. in hotels and runs weekends and holidays. Say which shifts you can work, in writing.
• Have you run the equipment, or only folded? Washer-extractor, tunnel washer, ironer and folder are different skill levels. Name what you operated.
• Do you understand soiled versus clean side? In healthcare and hospital linen this is the whole job. Mention PPE, bagging at point of use and no cross-traffic.
• Can you lift and stand? Wet linen carts are heavy and shifts are on your feet. A line like "lifts 40 to 50 lbs repeatedly, 8-hour shifts standing" answers it.

“I hire for attendance and for whether someone respects the soiled side. Anyone can learn the ironer in a week. What I cannot teach in a week is showing up at 5 a.m. every day and never carrying a soiled cart through clean linen.”

The word laundry covers four fairly different jobs. Pick the one you are applying to and lead with the matching detail.

• Hotel or resort: room count, occupancy, terry and sheet volume, banquet linen for events, guest valet and pressing, par levels, delivery to floors, and how you cope in peak season.
• Hospital or healthcare linen: soiled and clean side separation, isolation and OR linen, bagging at the point of use, bloodborne pathogens training, cart wash, and accreditation programs such as HLAC or TRSA Hygienically Clean if your plant held one.
• Nursing home or assisted living: residents' personal clothing, labeling, returning to the right room, incontinence linen and infection control. Accuracy matters more than raw poundage here.
• Commercial or industrial plant: tunnel washer (continuous batch washer) feed, poundage per hour, route customers, uniforms and mats, garment sortation and quality checks.
• Dry cleaner or laundromat: intake and tagging, spotting, pressing, customer service and register work, plus attended and self-serve floor duties.

Two or three lines. Setting, equipment, volume, shifts. If you have no experience, use an objective and put availability and physical readiness in it.

Most laundry resumes list duties with no size to them. Add the volume, the equipment or the result, and the same duty becomes evidence.

Split the list into equipment, safety and the personal qualities the job really needs. Ten to fourteen items is enough.

• Equipment: washer-extractors, tunnel washer feed, tumble dryers, flatwork ironer, automatic folder, steam press, sorting conveyor, linen carts and cart wash
• Process: sorting by stain class and fabric, wash formula selection, pre-treatment and spotting, drying times, folding standards, par level stocking, labeling and delivery
• Safety and compliance: bloodborne pathogens precautions, PPE, Safety Data Sheets and chemical labeling, lifting technique, wet floor and slip prevention, lockout/tagout basics

Then the soft skills that housekeeping managers actually rate, said in a concrete way rather than as adjectives:

• Attendance and punctuality, with a number if you have one ("99% attendance over 2 years, no call-outs in the last 12 months")
• Working a full shift on your feet and lifting 40 to 50 lbs repeatedly
• Following written wash formulas and machine settings exactly
• Working alone at night or as part of a two or three person line
• Second language, if you have one, since laundry teams are often mixed language

Laundry is one of the easiest fields to enter with no formal experience, and hiring managers know it. They are checking reliability, physical readiness and whether you follow instructions with chemicals. Write for those three.

• Open with an objective that states availability: early mornings, weekends, holidays, overnight. Availability alone will get you interviewed at most hotels.
• Count any repetitive, standing job: kitchen work, dishwashing, stocking shelves, packing, cleaning, farm or field work. Say the shift length and the pace.
• Count unpaid work honestly: caring for family members, running a household of six, volunteer work at a shelter or a church that involved linens or cleaning.
• Add a short physical readiness line: "Comfortable standing 8 hours and lifting 40 lbs repeatedly." Managers ask this in the interview anyway.
• Mention any safety or food handling training you have, even from another industry. It shows you take procedures seriously.
• Say you are willing to be trained on the ironer and the chemical system. It signals you know those machines exist.

• One page, always. Hotels and plants often print the resume or read it on a phone.
• Plain layout, no columns, no photo, no date of birth. In the US none of those belong on a resume, even though a UK or Philippine laundry attendant CV template may show them.
• Put availability and shift flexibility near the top, not buried at the bottom.
• Mirror the posting: "laundry attendant", "linen", "washer", "dryer", "flatwork ironer", "folding", "sorting", "par level", "housekeeping", "soiled linen", "PPE", "lifting 50 lbs".
• If the employer is a hospital, add "infection control" and "bloodborne pathogens". If it is a hotel, add "guest rooms", "terry", "banquet linen" and "valet".
• Keep the file name simple: Lastname-Firstname-Laundry-Attendant.pdf.
• List any second language. Many laundry teams run in two languages and a bilingual worker often becomes the lead.

Pay and hours are decided fast in this field. If you have a preferred wage or you need a fixed schedule for childcare, do not put it on the resume, but be ready to say it in the first phone call.
