Put the machines and controls in your summary, not only in a skills list at the bottom. A shop supervisor scanning 40 resumes is looking for "Haas", "Fanuc", "Mazak" or "Okuma" in the first five lines.

How to list machines, controls and materials

This is the part most lathe operator resumes get wrong. Do not write a wall of brand names you touched once. Group them, and be honest about the level.

  • Machines: give the make and model you ran daily (Haas ST-20, Okuma LB3000, Mazak QT-250, Doosan Puma, Hardinge), then "exposure to" for the rest.
  • Controls: Fanuc, Haas, Mazatrol, Siemens or Okuma OSP. Say whether you edit at the control, or only run proven programs.
  • Attachments: bar feeder, sub-spindle, live tooling, tailstock work, steady rest, parts catcher. Live tooling and sub-spindle experience raises your pay band.
