Eyelash Technician Resume Examples & Writing Guide

This sample is for a licensed lash artist with five years who works in a lash and brow studio and also takes brow services. The name and businesses are invented. If you are newly certified, keep the layout and lead with training and speed; there is a section for that below.

Lash work is booked by the hour and paid by the set, so the owner is doing arithmetic while reading. Four things matter.

• License. Which license you hold and in which state, and that it is active. In most states lash extensions require a cosmetology or esthetician license, and working without one puts the whole salon at risk.
• Speed. Full set time and fill time. A tech who does a clean volume set in two hours books three more clients a week than one who takes three.
• Retention and rebooking. Retention at two weeks tells the owner whether your work holds. Rebooking tells them whether clients like you. Both are trackable and both are rare on a resume.
• Whether you bring or build clients. Existing clientele, social following, referral rate. Say it honestly, including whether your clients can follow you under your current agreement.

“I want the license, the set time and the retention number. Then I want to see the work, so put the portfolio link in the header, not at the bottom. If a resume says "passionate about beauty and detail oriented" with no photos and no numbers, I do not book a trade test.”

This is where lash resumes most often go wrong, because people confuse a brand training certificate with a state license. They are different things and an owner will notice.

• Your state credential comes first: cosmetology license, esthetician license, or in a few states a lash-specific credential. Give the state board name, the license status and the year. Rules differ between states, so check your state board's current requirements rather than copying what a friend wrote in another state.
• Training certificates come second and are listed by what they taught, not as licenses: classic, hybrid, volume, mega volume, lash lift, brow lamination, tinting, removal. Name the year and say whether the training was hands-on or online.
• Say who trained you when it is a recognized educator or manufacturer, and how many hours or how many models you completed.
• Add bloodborne pathogen and sanitation training if you have it, and any first aid certification.
• If your license is from another state and you are moving, say where your reciprocity or new application stands and the date you expect to be able to work.

Services first, then technique, then the business side. Owners read the service list to see which columns of their price sheet you can fill.

• Services: classic, hybrid, volume, mega volume, fills at 2 and 3 weeks, safe removal, lash lift, lash tint, brow lamination, brow shaping and tinting
• Technique: isolation, handmade fan making, lash mapping and styling by eye shape, curl and length selection, weight and diameter matched to natural lash health, adhesive control
• Retention: humidity and temperature management, primer and cleansing routines, aftercare coaching, diagnosing why a set failed
• Safety: patch testing, allergy and reaction management, consent forms, sanitation and disinfection, bloodborne pathogen handling
• Business: booking systems such as Vagaro, GlossGenius, Boulevard or Square, pre-booking at the chair, retail attachment, inventory and supply ordering, social content and client photography

The human part matters more here than in most trades, because a client lies with their eyes closed next to you for two hours several times a month. Say it concretely: repeat client percentage, review count and rating, referral share of new bookings.

A brand new lash tech is slow, and every owner knows it. What they are deciding is whether you will get fast and whether your work is safe. Give them evidence of both.

• Count your practice models. "40 completed practice sets on live models" is real experience and most new techs never write it down.
• State your current set time honestly and the direction it is moving. Owners respect a candidate who says 2 hours 20 minutes and improving over one who claims 90 minutes and cannot do it in the trade test.
• Show that you understand safety: patch testing, allergy signs, no extension on a compromised natural lash, correct removal.
• Link a portfolio with clean, well-lit before and after photos, including close-ups that show isolation. Owners look at the photos before the words.
• List any other salon work: front desk, waxing, facials, nails. It shows you can hold a book and handle clients.
• Say your availability. Evenings and weekends are when lash clients book, and new artists build books fastest by covering them.

• One page. Nobody in this industry reads two.
• Put your portfolio or Instagram link in the contact line at the top. It is the most-clicked item on a lash resume.
• Do not put a photo of yourself on a US resume. Photos of your work belong in the portfolio, not on the page.
• List services as a block so an owner can match them to the price list quickly.
• Be clear about the arrangement you want: employee, commission, booth rental. It saves both sides a conversation.
• In the UK the same job is usually advertised as a lash technician too, though training and insurance rules differ; a CV there follows the same one-page approach.
